Speaking of Nick Fury...why the hell did Marvel suddenly decide that he should be black? Fury's character was created in the 40s, during WWII...he's been around for literally 3 generations, fer crying out loud! It's just *weird* having him suddenly look so different. It would be like if Wonder Woman was suddenly retconned into being Wonder Man (although the copyright infringement suit between Marvel and DC would be a lot of fun!)

Ultimate Nick Fury is black, and they asked Mr. Jackson if they could use his likeness for him when they made him

Yeah, he became black awhile ago. Which is fine with me. Mind you, I haven't read the comics, but in general, unless a character's race and/or physical form are pivotal parts of the story, changes tend to be aesthetic, and those changes happen all the time when artists change or the overall story changes.
I do think that it would be a big mistake to do something like that in other mediums, though, where characters are more defined as a matter of course. In comics, we see pictures and dialog, and it happens in fairly short bursts. You often don't get TOO far into a character's head. If it were something like a novel series, where the whole of a character's being is more deeply explored, I think it would be exceptionally wonky to change something that influences their identity.

Ultimate Nick Fury is pretty bad @$$. After getting his arm cut off he managed to defend the nation against the bad guys with the help of the Ultimates.

My two cents: I never thought I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a movie about any member of the freaking Avengers other than Wanda. Cause she's a freaking mutant. But, um, I loved this movie and I demand an Avengers movie right now. NOW NOW NOW.

I think making him black is an allright move. they can play it off in the marvel universe right now because of the whole skrulls thing (had to cover his tracks or something). And no one really knows who nick fury is outside of marvel universe geekery and Sam Jack is a decent actor. I support this change in continuity.

I loved the film, and the last time I saw an actor take so easily to a character was Depp playing a pirate. Downey just rocks as both Tony and Iron Man. It works so easily that after seeing it twice now I just can't imagine who would possibly be a better choice to play old shell head.
Now that it's been out for two weeks my local theater drops the price to $5.00 if you're in their FREE to join CLUB, and I'll end up seeing it a third time.
Stan Lee as Hugh Heffner is a tacky little bit of fun that made me chuckle.
Now, will Hulk blow as bad as a tornado through a trailer park? We shall soon know.

Stan Lee usually plays parts than mean something (i.e. mailman, bus driver . . .heroes in their own right) so that irked me as well.
I'm an optimist so I have high hopes to the new hulk movie

Actually, Stan Lee always makes his cameos as the tiny bit parts that DON'T mean anything. He's the guy on the street, something small enough that its not disruptive to see him and have him insert a one liner and move on. I think ascribing a deeper meaning about "everyday heroes" is a bit of a reach.
I think you may be the only one irked. I agree with bedlamite, I thought it was funny.

In Spider-man 2 he was the guy that yelled, "Look out," and pushed some one out of the way of a falling rock
