I have a list as long as my arm. My birthday is the 8th, and the list has to do double duty. I sometimes feel embarrassed talking about what's on my list. My mother (who does most of the gift buying for my parents) and my uncle demand a long list so there'll be lots of choices and options of what to get.

I'm hoping for some Ingrid Michaelson, Rasputina and Iron & Wine CDs. Otherwise, I want envelopes full of money to go toward a tablet.

I'd be pretty happy if my family decided to forego the gift exchange. Not only because I'm a student with no money, but because I hate stressing over what to get people, and then hate stressing over whether or not they will use it. It seems kind of pointless that people feel the need to blow so much cash, just out of tradition, on stuff that half the time is stashed away anyways.
That said, I'd be happy if someone gave me any Miyazaki movies.

I'd LOVE to have a Christmas where we put up the tree and then DIDN'T give any gifts to anyone, but just drank eggnog / warm cider and played games together as a family. That would rock. Additionally, I absolutely ***loathe*** writing thank you notes.

Aw crap, we're suppose to write thank you notes? Curses.
I wouldn't mind no gift giving myself. I also wouldn't mind if they abolished the commercialized Santa Claus. I also happen to detest all the secular Christmas music about frosty the snowman and decorating trees. Blah. Give me traditional Christmas music or give me nothing. Perhaps that's just me though.

Here's a thread from another forum I'm on that gives some non-trad Christmas music options that you might like.

We write notes for christmas and birthday gifts that come in the mail. If someone just gives us something, we just thank them on the spot and call it good.
