My dog died today.
She was almost 13, was old and very sick. She held on long enough for my brother to come home from school and see her again. We took her to the vet this morning.
She had a good, long life. She was happy and healthy up until quite recently, even though she started to decline in recent months. She had her own bed, her own toys, cats to tease and people that loved her. She was a good dog.
Now she waits for us with the other pets, where it's always warm and comfortable, and she can run and play like she did when she was young.
But I still cry.

::Hug::
I'm sorry hon. She was a lucky dog and she was as happy as she could have been and had a great life.
It'll be okay.

I'm so sorry! I know how hard it is to lose a pet. My oldest sister always told me that all the pets we lose hang out together and wait for us to show up in the afterlife. Your dog was lucky to have such a loving family who took care of her for so many years and watch over her as she passed on.

::hugs:: Losing pets is horrible, and I'm very sorry you have to face it. Remember her well, and I hope the ache fades soon--the good memories will stick around, don't worry. I'm glad that everyone got to say goodbye to her--I'm sure that meant a lot to her, and to your brother.
