What would you do if you won a lot of money? I pondered this question and the only thing I got was get of debt and that was it... I need to wake up more, so I can think of a better solution. Anyway, I put the question to you what would you do if you won a lot of money?

Well, firstly I'd pay off all my debts (shock, surprise!) After that I'd hire someone smart to turn my pile of money into a bigger pile of money through stuff like investing and owning property and various other things that i understand only in abstract concepts. Basically I'd use my money to set up a modest but self perpetuating lifestyle. Then I think I'd use my free time to draw more. Perhaps start a webcomic of my own. Or focus on my writing, and start publishing books. Last years NaNoWriMo did give me a hankering for writing. Then on the weekends I'd volunteer at a counseling center or a telephone helpline. Basically something to quell that little voice inside that tells me to save the world. I'd also use my spare time to go to the gym lots and get into shape I would live in a modest apartment, enjoy a modest lifestyle and drive a Porsche 911 Turbo (dunno why, it's just the dream). And there you have it

What would I do if I won a lot of money? Let's see. First off, I'd invest the money in a new car. My current one is....not reliable. Second, I'd pay off my debts, including school loans. Third, I'd buy a nice little mansion, and relocate my whole extended family to that grand hacienda. I'd also get my grandma and my mom the best treatment money could buy. I owe them at least that much for putting up with me. And, with the last little bit, I'd invest in defense contractors, firearm manufacturers, oil companies...basically, all the things that are perceived by the public as "bad."

I'd relish the chance to finally be able to do all the (way too many) things I love doing: costuming, volunteering for archeological digs, my own art, the list is kind of scary, truth be told!

Call into my job and tell them I will not be coming in for the next ever.

Now that'd be fun. In some ways, it'd be almost worth it to see their faces, too. Only drawback is there's some really great people I work with at the printshop, and I'd hate to think of how much more difficult it'd make their work until a replacement was found. Curse this conscience!

But think how much more enjoyable your job would be if you could think to yourself "I don't NEED this. I can quit anytime!"
I wouldn't quit right away. I would cut my hours back and wait to quit until there was someone to replace me. Mostly because I like most of my coworkers and wouldn't want to leave them in the lurch. Especially since I would want to continue being a customer!

I would create a half-way house that was self reliable without help from the government, by finding "business" partners who were each skilled in one particular aspect, such as carpentry, electrician services, physician skills, etc, and were willing to train others. We would invite the homeless, the abused, the people who had fallen to their lowest point, to turn themselves around and learn a life's skill. Their living space, food, and everything would be taken care of, as long as they pitched in to help out with the basic upkeep up the building and were willing to learn. We would help them get into the working world, and for the first x amount of time, they would give us a share of their paycheck until they found a permanent place to live, hence the self sustaining aspect.
There you go.
Yes I have been thinking about this. It's my own personal dream.

Depends on how much. If it was, say, 10 million in actual winnings, I'd save and invest and live off the interest. But if it was over 50 million, I'd save about half or more of it, but use some to go to the ISS on a Soyuz capsule. Going into space is something I've always wanted to do.
