Say it last night, man what a ride. I have wanted to see this movie since I saw the trailer with Transformers and it did not disappoint, well except for the ending.
So, did anyone else see this, and if so what did you think?

Yeah I saw it. Liked it too. Though I must admit I was more excited to see the Star Trek preview before it.

I saw transformers in theatre as well and I didn't see a trailer for Cloverfield or Star Trek. I know what Cloverfield is about, but I know nothing about a new Star Trek... movie?

Heck yeah, new Star Trek movie by JJ Abrhams. New casting of the original series set during Starfleet Academy times. It will rule.
I didn't see the Hellboy 2 preview! Sad. Tho I've seen it online, so I'm not totally devastated, but I would have loved to see it in the theater.

Sorry to be off topic, and in my own thread no less, but I hear that Simon Pegg will be the new Scotty

well . . . I know it was supposed to be from the perspective of a non-military . . . non "in the know" person. But I felt it was an hour and a half teaser of what the monster looked like every 5 minutes until the end.
I didn't like the way the protagonist went against EVERY law of common sense to find the girl he had a fling with.
Those were the two biggest things I didn't like about the movie. What I DID like was the escalation of force the military used during the movie. At first it was small arms fire (M-16's, rockets), then it went to Tanks, then close air support (jets firing missiles at it), then it went to bombing it, then nuking it. That is standard military doctrine of fighting something like a sea monster.
Of course the military has no REAL protocols against fighting a sea monster but it is how it would think fighting an unknown thing like that. Me personally ? I would have dropped a couple MOAB's on it before I nuked it.

Ah see, I would have just called in the X-Men. Or at least Batman.

Ah yes, the massive ordinance air bomb, largest conventional bomb to date. (I think) Doesn't it mix its fuel with oxygen in the air around it, then ignite it, sending out a massive shockwave? Maybe not the most efficient bomb for killing a sea monster. But then, what the hell do I know.

Giant Fighting Robot
Next government official that puts a bill forward that suggests creating a program for it I will vote and even campaign for

Maybe not the most efficient bomb for killing a sea monster. But then, what the hell do I know. I would say it would be pretty decent because in military applications, it is able to literally incinerate everything around it within 200 meters. If that doesn't work, it would be big enough to (hopefully) cause sudden nerve trauma to the blarging beast.

Thats true, but the collateral damage would be massive.
On an admittedly unrelated note- It seems like a useless weapon to use against an equally equipped foe, because as far as I know, they drop it out of a C-130 with a drag chute.
There! I said it!
