Ok, so here's the deal. Lore and I are in the early early early discussion stages on the first SG book. It's a hugely exciting idea and IF we do it, the goal would probably be to have it out next spring.
The book would be (probably) in the neighborhood of 100-150 pages, paperback, and in color. It would contain the first XX strips of the comic as well as bonus strips and extras like character bios, maybe some portraits, creator commentary and behind the scenes type stuff. Obviously every copy would come signed by us, cuz we're high-falutin' artists.
There are two obstacles. The first is the sheer amount of WORK that it would take to produce said book. In addition to producing all the extras and laying the whole thing out, we would also have to go back to the older comics and fix a lot of stuff. It's the nature of the beast with comics (and art in general) that you look back on the earliest stuff with a shudder and wonder HOW you ever managed to produce such drek. It's not that either of us object to putting the effort into it, but between work, the weekly update, and all our other personal things, adding what amounts to another part time job on top of that is a major commitment.
The other obstacle is the biggest. Money. The cost of having 100 books printed is measured in the thousands, and neither of us is rich. In order to take such a financial risk we have to very carefully gauge the interest a book would have. If we can be reasonably sure that we would get a decent return on our investment, then we can start the process. If not, we'll have to wait.
So vote, share your thoughts, give us an idea where we stand.
