"Remember that the entirety of your entry must be contained in one image. Any text you want should be part of the picture submitted. Separate files with descriptions will not be considered." Would it be all right when (or if) I submit a comic that I include some side notes - like a wiki-like entry for my character to point out some stuff or plans that I'm not able to fit into the comic itself? The comic for instance would tell of his basic origin and motivations, but the back-up entry would mostly be more for reference, such as the extent of the character's powers or possible future plans in case you plan to use him. Should I simply stick to keeping my submission a basic comic or would it be all right if I basically make a comic followed up with a bit of a profile diagram? I just want to be sure I present my possible character in such a way that is both interesting, but also informative enough for extended use (and also is within the submission guidelines). Example: www.dccomics.com/dcu/heroes_and_villains/?hv=origin_stories/joker&p=1

Your entry can be whatever you want it to be. If you want to do a comic, fine. If you want to make something more like a splash page with descriptive text, fine. But the entry must be ONE file. You can arrange it however you want and make it as tall as you want (width is set on our main page, which is why the width is set for the entries, so that the winners will fit properly on the main page). If you send your entry as a comic, but then a second word file or somesuch with lots of notes and descriptions, that file will not be considered as part of your entry. When we post the winners, the audiance would not be able to see those extra notes and enjoy them, so we won't consider them. Your entry, no matter how you choose to present it, needs to stand on its own.

Finally figured out how to increase the canvas size and add text to the picture. All I needed was to import the pix and text from my Linux box to a Windows box and fire up IrfanView. Now to submit it...

Entry submitted a couple of weeks ago (from an email address other than the one associated with my account here) -- did it arrive or do I need to resend?

A question, if your not artistically inclined and the villain can't be done with programs like Hero Machine... Would a detailed description be good enough? I got a villain idea, but there's no way in hades I can draw him.

Hero machine is fine. Lots of people have used those sorts of builders for their entries.
A written description would technically fall within the rules, but remember, this is a contest for a comic. comics need pictures.
