Unfortuantely, we will not be attending the convention this year. The investment is too high and we're not confidant that the show will go on with the quality that we've seen in the past. In addition the other artists that we usually attend with are also passing this year.
This is pretty sad for us. It will be the first time missing the convention since I started attending back in 2005, and it's proving difficult to find an alternative convention close enough to our area.
At this point the only thing that would get us to this convention would be if the tables cost half what they do. Since the rate isn't up for negotation, all we can do is hope to be able to attend next year.
We'll certainly keep everyone informed when we find another convention to go to, and if anyone has any suggestions we'll certainly check them out.

Even though you will not have a table, will you be attending at all? If so I will keep an eye out for you. I would just like to thank you in person again for making such a great comic.

Dunno. Doubt it. I'd LIKE to go, just to cruise around and possibly watch the chaos unfold. However, I'd much rather attend penguicon for the money, and theres the whole time off issue.
HOWEVER. You're local. We're local. I don't think we would be opposed to haveing a meet'n'greet somewhere in the nearish future for anyone who wants to come out.
We're also planning to go to a con in Ohio in July, details to come.

There is another Con option for Michigan. The Detroit Fan Fare will be taking place on Sept 24-25 at Cobo Hall. $140 for 2 Badges and 2 Chairs. Last year was the first one they held and it was small but it definitely had a better feel. They only did comics and creators... there really weren't any media stars. So their focus (at least for last year) was strictly comics. Think about it

Sad to hear that Metrocon is heading in the wrong direction. One might hope that if enough people pull out they re-evaluate things, but my experience with that kind of pattern at renfaires tells me not to hope for too much...

Very sad you won't be at the con, meeting you both last year was what made me a fan of SG! I really like the idea of a local meet and greet, it would be a hoot.
