Since this forum looked so sad and empty, I thought I'd kick things off. The only movie that has really stuck in my head recently (Transformers and Live Free or Die Hard, while both amusing, kinda blew by) was Sunshine. If you haven't seen it, it's directed by Danny Boyle (28 Days Later, Trainspotting, Millions - movies I love) and stars Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later, Batman Begins) and Michelle Yeoh and Chris Evans. Here's the trailer: youtube.com/watch?v=WNZwrgFo3GEI loved this movie. But then, I also love Danny Boyle's other movies, so I could just be I'm biased. I know a lot of people who loved Danny Boyle movies but just as many people who hate them. What helped is that I'm a sucker for sci-fi movies, especially ones focused on how people handle being in deep space for long periods of time. I know there aren't many people on this forum yet, but I hope someone other than Erika and I have seen this movie. If you have, I'd like to know what you thought about it.

What I thought was cool was the nifty twist near the end. The first part was pretty predictable. After the first scene of all the crew interacting, I thought "aw, man, I like that guy, and he's gonna die." Sure enough, he croaked shortly after. But the bit at the end was wholly unexpected.

I just saw Sunshine. It was pretty cool, but it kind of blends (to me) with the masses of "deep space exploration" movies, some which are slightly better, most of which are worse. I liked the heat shield ship, it reminded me of something from star wars. I was hoping for something more donnie darko-ish, but to me it just seemed like they didn't bother explaining anything interesting, like why the crew of Icarus 1 went mad, and what the hell the crusty captain of Icarus 1 meant when he said "i've been communicating with god for seven years". It seemed to me that they ditched this in favor of exploding stuff and blood. What twist at the end did you mean?

I never saw it, though the local paper did not give it a favorable review

There are a lot of movies I like that any amount of local papers disagree with. Alas.
