I voted! No line at my precinct, but the news showed lines around the block at places in the city.

Yeah, I was so worried about going to vote at 5pm that I asked Erika to come with me so she could keep me company in line. But luck was on my side and I was in and out in fifteen minutes or so. That rocked. The lady said we were lucky too because it had been swamped and they expected it to get swamped again around 6. So yay.

*dusts off soapbox and puts on serious face*
Vote, even if you hate all the choices. Not voting is giving up what little control you have left. Yes, you get to play 'I didn't help elect that asshole,' but not voting puts you in a passive relationship with the government.
A passive attitude won't fix anything. Vote. We're citizens, not faceless sheeple.

I kind of like how Australia does it. They have compulsory voting. You must go to a polling place and cast a ballot. You DO NOT have to fill the ballot out, if you truly do not wish to vote.
It gets more people to the polls, and would help eliminate some of the really scary voter suppression that has become more and more widespread over the last few years. Attempting to prevent people from voting who statistically do not vote for your party is no way to win elections.

Yeah, both Dem and Rep are guilt of that. I can't hold my head high no matter what party I choose. This quote from Tolkien describes the situation well. "I am not altogether on anybody's side, because nobody is altogether on my side, if you understand me."
