Allow me to introduce myself. Call me sackett. Male, 48, Iowa farmer, grew up in Bear Lake MI (near Manistee...50 miles south of Traverse City) I don't like to enter forums without introducing myself, so forgive me if this post seems grandiose. Comics fan since late '60s, almost exclusively DC since the '90s. The cover price of comic books is what drove me, at least for the last 3 years, and the forseeable future, out of collecting. I found this site from Comics Should Be Good, and this is the first webcomic I've become a member of. May I say that I read thru your archive in 2 days...I am very impressed. The thing I like most about Sidekick Girl is that each character is very unique. And the gentle humor. And the emotional realism of the title character. You ladies weave a superb story...to my mind, comparable to Calvin and Hobbes. Or Bloom County. Anyway...hello. Hope to be able to contribute in some meaningful fashion.

Holy Geez! You flatter us, sir. I got all warm and fuzzy for a moment there. You are very welcome to the comic and the forum. It's amazing to have someone express such kind sentiments, especially a few years into the project when we're both slowly wearing down a bit. It really does help a lot and I thank you for both of us. I also completely understand your frustrations about comic prices today. I myself collected Marvel comics starting in grade school and through high school and a few years beyond but had to give it up because I simply couldn't afford all my titles anymore. That's why, whenever my mother asks me why we aren't charging money for Sidekick Girl, I just sigh and say, "Because I like to read comics for free on the internet, so I'm not going to make other people pay to read mine." Any money we do get from print or shirt says really just goes towards helping us go to conventions. It's not a job and I like it that way. Again, we're very glad to have you. Laura P.S. Also, I have family in Petoskey and Charlevoix. That's a great side of the state

It's not grandiose, its sufficient but it raises one question... Should there be a thread/subforum dedicated to introductions?

Welcome to this wonderful little playground! I'd also like to add that you've said with considerably more eloquence than I ever managed exactly how I feel about this comic. I was never a "real" comic collector. There were some titles I did like, for a while, but I tended to wander a great deal. I still like hard SF, good humor, good writing, and this place offers some of the best writing on the internet, I say! Welcome in, join the fun!
