Hey, kids, guess what? It's time for the next contest! We know how y'all love the contests.
This is one we've been planning for awhile, and are uberly looking forward to it. It's costume time!
The rules are simple. Dress up as any SG character, take a picture, and post it to the forum in the soon to be provided thread. Easy peasy! We would also like you to point out who you are, and tell us whatever you would like about the costume and its process. After all, if you stitched that cape yourself, we want to know about it! Finally, be sure to post the actual PICTURE in the forum, not a link to an outside site. You can use a host like photobucket to get an IMG code.
Deadline: November 3rd. You have oodles of time.
Prizes! The top three costumes will be posted on the main page the first three weeks of November. the grand prize winner will also get some sort of nifty thing, TBD.
Anticipated FAQ:
Who can I be? Anyone with a name. So no picking some random person from the background or a group shot. It doesn't have to be a main character, and you could pick some random bad guy that only appeared once, as long as they have name.
Wait, what about fishnet ninjas? They don't have names... That's fine.
Well, I'm a guy/girl, but my favorite character is a guy/girl, sooo.... No problem! Costumes are fun and should not be limited by pesky things like reality. You wanna dress in drag? Go for it. You want to make a Tornado Girl costume, or Impact as a boy? Rock on.
Do I have to subject myself to the scrutiny of the internet in spandex? Cuz that sounds like a bad plan. Nooo, no spandex required. The truth of it is that the way costumes look in comics doesn't really translate well into real live spandex. It doesn't lay the same way, it wrinkles oddly, it certainly doesn't have the structure, and it shows EVERYTHING beneath it. The overall effect tends to be kinda cheesy. Why do you think that all the movies put the heros in leather? Feel free to interpret the costumes in any way that makes sense to you.
But I LIKE spandex! Wear spandex. (Have we stressed the "do what you want!" vibe enough?)
Can I dress up my child and/or pet? Oh, God, YES.
Can I enter more than once? Sure.
How about props? Props make all costumes better.
Will you be more excited if I cosplay a character at a convention? Yes. Yes, we will. (In fact, if you are planning to cosplay at a convention, and would like to hench for us, let us know and we will email you flyers that you can print out and disperse)
Is there anything I CAN'T do? the TOS of the forum hosting prohibits adult material, so no nudity.
