Yay, we get a contest this year after all!
So as detailed in the thread about my brokenness, usually we have our contest in the fall and run the winners in November to give us a short break during NANOWRIMO. Obviously that did not happen this year. This year, we're going to run regular comics up until Christmas (or possibly until the week before and then a Christmas page on the 24th, we haven't decided yet) and put the contest deadline at December 30th. Then we'll run the winners starting on December 31st, and they will keep running up until I can sit up and color again. I'll probably be getting out of the hospital on the 31st and be a mess, so we'll definitely need one then, and after that I really won't know until I'm either able to do it, or not. It'll be a New Year's Surprise!
THE RULES!
--The theme is fanart. Draw an SG related picture. That's basically it. You wanna do a background? Do a background. Wanna do a full comic page? Go for it. Wanna do a fully rendered oil painting? A bust sculpted from clay? Rock on!
--There's gotta be a catch, right? Yes, there is. See, what with Mack and Val being the main characters, we figured there's a good chance that it would turn into an endless series of Macks and Vals, and we'd love to see a little variety. So you can only include Mack or Val in your entry if you ALSO include another character with a name.
--Entries must conform to the forum's TOS, which means nothing explicit. Keep the bits covered.
--Do not copy or trace directly from official SG material. Using references is fine.
--Post your entry here in this thread. Post the image itself, not a link. although if you are also an artist, and you want to include a link to your comic or Deviantart, that's fine.
--The width of the comic is 740 pixels. Keep that in mind for the proportions of your entry.
--Enter as often as you want.
Man, this sucks. I'm not an artist, but some of the other fans are, so there's no way I can win this one! Well...you never know. Yeah, we do appreciate good art, but it's also completely subjective and arbitrary, so you should still enter. Maybe we'll feel that your not-as-skillful-artistically piece represents our characters better than the other. Maybe we'll find your stick figure comic hilarious. In any case, we're probably going to be running multiple entries, so even if we can't resist that super shiny pretty one, your stick figures could still get a nod.
Prize?
Winner(s) will get featured on the main page. Mock awards (IE, Best Use of Play-Doh) will be posted in this thread. That's all for now, but we reserve the right to send surprises later if we so choose.
aaaand GO!
