I have recently acquired Transformers on DVD and I have to say it is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. This may be because I am a geek but it also may be because it just freaking rocks!
So other movies I consider to be the greatest movies of all time are: -Batman Begins -Godfather (all of them) -Fifth Element -Patch Adams -The Notebook -Sliding Doors -Nitemare before Christmas -Silent Hill -Lord of the Rings (although the books are better, they're still great movies!) -Star Wars -Phantom of the Opera -Pirates of the Caribbean -X-Men -The Prestige
And that's all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment. More to come later perhaps?
But! The point of this thread/topic is to tell everyone what you think are the greatest movies and have friendly discussion about them!

Ah, great thread. I will begin but adding stars to the movies that I agree with from your list. (the more stars, the more I agree!)
-Batman Begins***** -Godfather -Fifth Element* -Patch Adams -The Notebook -Sliding Doors -Nitemare before Christmas**** -Silent Hill***** -Lord of the Rings*** -Star Wars -Phantom of the Opera -Pirates of the Caribbean** -X-Men** -The Prestige***
And now I shall add my own movies to the awesome movies list:
-Iron Giant -Leon (The Professional) -Unleashed -Thank You for Smoking -Equilibrium -300 (mmm....abs) -The Returner (Japanese) -12 Monkeys
There are of course others that I'm completely blanking on. I'll add them when I think of them.

Saving Private Ryan and Fight Club were also excellent movies. At least I thought so. Iron Giant does kick caboose, and any movie by Hayao Miyazaki is awsome.

Ack! I totally forgot about Iron Giant, Equilibrium, Saving Private Ryan, Fight Club, and 300! I would be ashamed but I made the post late last night. So... yes. On a side note; I'm totally psyched to see Iron Man when it comes out! Trailer anyone? www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhgzIM-9lfA

Iron Man and Dark Knight should both rock something fierce.

The iron man trailer looked kind of cheesy just cuz he was killing terrorists in the one i saw. I'll watch the movie just to see stark break the sound barrier though. Oh and Robert Downey Jr is a pretty decent pick to play stark in my opinion.
Anyone seen the Hitman trailer? God help us.

Anyone seen the Hitman trailer? God help us. Dear God. Why did that need to be made into a movie? In the game. . . you kill people. And the guy who plays him (Olyphant I think his last name is), I dunno something about him bugs me. I think I saw him in something once and now he's been spoiled for me. His face feels like a cartoon character. I don't like it. No offense to his face.

Yeah, he was a godless killing machine designed to kill things dead, and also from the game you get the impression he despises any kind of closeness or intimacy with other human beings. I'm starting to wonder how they managed to write a movie about someone no one can identify with, and thats just it: they can't. Its probly gonna suck like tomb raider. I liked the game so much i dont think i want to see the movie.

I never even played the game and the concept of how horrible the movie will be breaks my heart.

I might have to avoid the movie theater for a month after that comes out just to stay away from all the disappointed customers.

I might have to avoid the movie theater for a month after that comes out just to stay away from all the disappointed customers. Seriously. I mean, those people DO play a video game for hours that involves killing people in many wonderful different ways.
