And today I'm eating my words. Okay, I'm NOT predicting the outcome, I'm NOT jinxing them...

I didn't jinx them! I gave them luck!

Ok, first of all:
I'm pretty sure that it would be hard to beat the thrill of watching a game seven of the playoffs live. It was amazing. So much amazing, that I am internally still squeeing over it a week later.
That said, sorry Chicago! You are about to be thoroughly squashed. This series might not even make it to five games. I hope it does, though. I want to win at home.

Well, Chicago has gotten one win out of it, I wonder if they can keep this up, though. Detroit seems pretty capable of knocking them down. They forced overtime in game 2 on a lucky goal, and got the win in OT for game 3. In short: they're just barely getting those goals. What happens when Hossa, et. al. start scoring, again?

Holmstrom got a goal last night, which is really good, cuz he's been dry for awhile. Now they just need to get Datsyuk back in and scoring. I really hope that they just took him out last night as a precaution, rather than an actual injury to his foot.
I missed most of the game, unfortunately. I was all excited to sit down and watch, and saw pretty much the first half. Including that HUGE hit that should not have been a penalty, and certainly not a game misconduct. Then...I fell asleep on the couch. I woke up for each of our goals (it gets louder at that point) and then slept right through the intermission and the overtime.
I got called into work over two hours early to cover someone being sick and it resulted in only getting four hours of sleep. So I was really tired.

I missed the game completely, got distracted with my costuming project and lost track of time. Considering the outcome, it's probably just as well. I did watch the game highlights on NHL.com, which shows the goals and such, but doesn't really give you a feel for the game as a whole. I'm not sure Detroit played as well as their capable of playing, from what I've seen. They've got to start playing better in the first period, though. You can't spot your opponents three goals before you start to play and expect to win many games.

My family turned it off after we got 6 points. We know who would win after that and decided to play golf on the Wii

So even though I was starting to suffer though my stone midway through the game, I still managed to enjoy it. It was VERY exciting. The Wings are 3-0 when I'm in the building this postseason. I think it's pretty obvious that I'm lucky.

It sure was a heck of a game #1, wasn't it? I hope you're stone hasn't kept you from watching it. Wow. I've been on NHL.com and looked at the stats: Detroit won 71% of the faceoffs, Pittsburgh only 29%. You can't expect to win a game that way, so I figure that Pittsburgh's coaches will be reviewing that part pretty closely. Pretty wild game, and surprisingly physical. Whew.

Oh, no prevention here. I was on the couch though the whole thing. It was a great game. Even if we should have gotten more power plays than we did.
We're trying to teach the dog to get excited with us when we score. So when we score and allassembled cheer, she gets a cookie. She already knows to like her jersey. If I get it down off its hook, she sits in front of me and wags her tail all expectant-like.

I know what you mean about the lack of calls. Malkin's break-away (that Osgood totally stonewalled!) should have been called, for instance. I can understand that you want to let the play and not interfere if you can avoid it, but still... This kind of physically rough play might work in Pittsburgh's favor in the long term, depending on how quickly the older guys can recover. I'm quite nervous about them playing again tomorrow. On the plus side, the third goal for Detroit was scored by a former MSU star!

I'm all geeked for Abdelkater (sp?) because here's a guy who got called up from the minors to fill a hole...and now he's got his first ever playoff goal! They did an audio of him after and he was whooping like an excited kid. It made me feel all warm and squishy inside.

I've been pretty geeked about him ever since they called him up. I used to have season-tickets to the MSU hockey games for several years, so I got to follow his college career from freshman to his game-winning goal in the NCAA championships. It's cool to see him stepping up, even higher.

And he scored another one in game #2. Too cool for words! Osgood's been the difference in both games, he's just been amazing. Maybe he'll finally get some respect in the hockey world? I'm a bit worried about how much tempers flared late in the game, though. That fight with Malkin and Zetterberg was pretty intense. I hope there's not alot of lingering resentment, or this next game could get ugly. Time for the ref's to call a really tight game and reign both teams back just a tiny bit.

Game 3 certainly sucked. I think now that Datsyuk and Draper appear to be healthy again things will get interesting. I've got a coworker who's been almost 100% on his predictions for ALL of the series in this year's playoffs. He says it's going to be Redwings in 5. We'll find out if he's right, soon.
