I read Red Wings and thought Dr. Cox from Scrubs To we poor deprived down in Australia only know your fancy sports teams as abstract concepts that TV show characters sometimes talk about That's a shame, everyone should see at least one hockey game in person in their lifetime, it's like no other sport in the world. And it's super fast! You wouldn't believe how fast that game moves.

I go as often as I can, especially at this time of year. I went to two games in the first round and have tickets for game four of this round.

I haven't been to a Red Wings game in forever, but I did catch a couple of University of Michigan games this season, my favorite was the game against Michigan State at the Joe, I love it when those two teams meet up there! I also got tickets to the outdoor game they'll play this December, almost 80,000 tickets already sold and counting, that should be an interesting experience. I was at the game they played years ago at MSU, 75,000 fans screaming so loud the players couldn't hear each other on the ice, and that record still stands for hockey attendance anywhere in the world. And yes, I froze my butt off but it was totally worth it.

Man! I've heard so many complaints about the officiating of games 1 & 2, but what happened in #3? When I went to bed they were up 3-1, but this morning was a different story. I'm feeling blue: My MSU Spartans didn't make the NCAA tourney, the Sabres and Ryan Miller flamed out in the first round, and the Red Wings seem to be flapping out of sync. What a depressing end to the hockey season!

Game three wasnt ALL to blame on officiating, but it still sucked. Disallowing good goals, tons of penalties, and most of them seemed to come at convienantly inconvienant times. Like right after we get a power play, right after we score, or when the game is tied with three minutes to go. If we lose this series (I know it's not much of an if, but I can hope), I put at least half the blame on the refs.
There've been conspiracy theories for years about the NHL in general and Gary Bettman in particular wanting the Wings to fail, and I try not to get sucked into it, cuz conspiracy theories are, in general, pretty dumb. But when your team is penalized literally THREE TIMES as much as the other team, and most of it's for dumb stuff, that's where these theories come from.
I'm going to the game tomorrow. I'm PRAYING that they pull out a win. Even if they can't take it to seven, at least win tomorrow. If we get swept and I'm in the building, I'll probably have to cry a little.

If we get swept and I'm in the building, I'll probably have to cry a little. I can sympathize on that one. I'd really hate it if the Wings got swept. No doubt the officiating has been bad for at least the first 2 games, from everything I've seen (Even non-wings fans have been talking about it) but like you I'm reluctant to give in to the various conspiracy theories out there. I'd like to see this be a good series, and from everything I've seen it hasn't been so far. Very frustrating end to the season for me all around.

Okay, so this isn't really about the Red Wings, but did anybody watch the final series this year for Lord Stanley's Cup? I didn't really have strong feelings for or against either team, but it was a heck of a series right down to last night's game. Great and exciting hockey. Man I'm gonna miss these games until fall starts it all up again.

I watched most of it. A very good series. I was rooting for Chicago, and they won, so I am happy. Good for them. Now we just need to get on track for next year. Lidstrom and Holmstrom have already signed their deals, so the only one in the balance (as far as I know) is Maltby. I know the chances of him being resigned are pretty slim, but I really hope he's back next year.

Woot! Not only do the wings have Juri Hudler back, it looks like they're going to have Mike Modano!!! Man they're gonna be a tough team to beat this coming season.
